Home Ed Cooks

Are you looking to supplement your child's home education journey with a hands on, practical, session. As well as having a lot of hands on fun our classes also develop their social, gross motor, speech, numeracy and listening skills. 
 
Our weekly Home Ed Cooks classes are aimed at children who are home educated from 4 years old. Children, with a little help from an adult, will get stuck in making a sweet or savoury dish each week. We provide everything, including aprons, so all you need to do it turn up and have some educational fun.

As we prepare a different recipe each week children get exposed to a variety of new ingredients and the opportunity to try new foods. Whilst their dish cooks we explore how our food grows and where it comes from, as well as some tasting activities. 
 
Our classes are great for encouraging children and selective eaters to try new foods. Many of our parents are amazed by what their child will try in class which they have refused on numerous occasions at home. 
 
Recipes are selected termly from our extensive range of sweet and savoury recipes so children will learn how to cook a variety of dishes throughout their time with us. At the end of each class children will take home what they have made plus a recipe card in their very own The Cookery Cabin bag.

Classes are based in a large hall at Gravesend Sea Cadet Unit, North Kent College, Lower Higham Road, Gravesend, Kent.
