Cookery Classes FAQs

What age do you run classes for? 
 

Please visit our cookery classes page which provides more information about the classes we offer. 

Can I attend a trial class before signing up?

Yes, we recommend attending a trial class before signing up to a full term of classes. Please visit our Book Classes page to check our availability for a trial. Only one trial per child.

Can I start halfway through a term?
 

Yes, our classes are booked on a pro-rata basis so if you wish to join mid-term you will only be charged for the remaining classes left that term.

Do you cater for allergies/dietary needs?

Yes, we cater for most allergies, please contact us before booking to check that we can cater for your specific allergy.

Is everything we need provided?
 

Yes, everything from ingredients to equipment, including aprons, is provided each week. The only thing you need to bring is a smiley face!!

Does the food get cooked during the class?

Yes, all food is cooked during the class duration. Whilst the food is cooking we do a fun, educational, activity.

My child is a selective/fussy eater, can I attend?

Yes, our recipes are fun to make no matter if they are eaten at the end!

We have a no pressure approach to trying bakes but hope that our method of delivery makes food fun for all. 

Are adults required to stay for the class?

Yes, adults are required to stay with their Littlest Cooks and Little Cooks but Big Cooks upwards can be left in our care.

Can younger siblings attend?
 

Yes, younger siblings are more than welcome to come along to our classes in Gravesend or Sittingbourne. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate younger siblings at Strood.

Where are classes held?
 

Classes are currently held at three venues;

The Cookery Cabin - Gravesend Gravesend Sea Cadet Unit, Lower Higham Road, Gravesend

The Cookery Cabin - Sittingbourne

Rodmersham Village Hall, 

Green Lane, Sittingbourne

The Cookery Cabin - Strood

Do we have to pay for the term in full?

Ideally we like the children to progress over the term so would recommend signing up to the term after a trial class. 

However, if you are unable to commit to this we do offer PAYG spaces (dependant on availability)

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes, parking is available at Gravesend & Sittingbourne however during term time car parking spaces might be limited.

Parking is limited at the Strood venue due to being in a residential area. 

Is there disabled access?

There is a disabled access at both Gravesend & Sittingbourne. Please let us know if you need access before attending a class.

Unfortunately, there is no disabled access at Strood. 

Do your class leaders hold a DBS?

Yes, all class leaders hold an enhanced DBS certificate confirming they can work with children.

Do you offer sibling discount?

Unfortunately, we do not offer sibling discount. All children are provided with the same equipment and ingredients. 

Do I need The Cookery Cabin Membership?

If your child attends regular classes we recommend signing up to one of our one-off memberships. Please see our membership options here. However, this is not essential. 

How much do classes cost?
 

The cost of each class varies. Please view the relevant class page to see the cost of the class per week.

Do you have a Food Hygiene Rating?
 

Yes, we have been rated as a 5 with the Food Standards Agency. You can view our rating here

Do you host Birthday Parties?
 

Yes! Please check out our birthday party options here

What if I can't attend a class?
 

If you are unable to attend a class one week there are three options; 

1. swap to another class (dependant on availability)

2. send a friend in your place (just let us know)

3. have the dry ingredients packaged up to bake at home.
