It is designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all children, families, class leaders, and visitors attending or working with The Cookery Cabin.

 

We believe that everyone should be treated fairly, with dignity and respect, and that all individuals should feel welcome, valued, and included in our cookery classes.

  • All class leaders and management

  • All children and adult participants

  • Parents, carers, and guardians

  • Visitors, contractors, and external partners

It applies to all in-person activities, communications, and any online or digital engagement linked to The Cookery Cabin.

We expect all class leaders, participants, and parents/carers to:

  • Avoid assumptions about individuals or groups

  • Respect differences in background, culture, beliefs, and identity

  • Support an environment where everyone feels safe to participate

  • Challenge inappropriate or discriminatory behaviour where appropriate, or report it to management

 

7. Inclusion and Accessibility

The Cookery Cabin is committed to making its classes as inclusive and accessible as reasonably possible.

We will:

  • Make reasonable adjustments where possible for individuals with disabilities or additional needs

  • Take account of cultural, religious, and dietary requirements where appropriate

  • Ensure communication is clear, respectful, and inclusive

  • Encourage participation from people of all backgrounds and abilities

 

We recognise that individual needs may vary and will aim to support participation wherever practicable.

 

8. Responsibilities

Management

The Cookery Cabin management is responsible for:

  • Implementing and reviewing this policy

  • Ensuring staff are aware of their responsibilities

  • Addressing any concerns or breaches promptly and fairly

  • Promoting a culture of inclusion and respect

 

Class Leaders

Class Leaders must:

  • Follow this Policy at all times

  • Treat all individuals fairly and respectfully

  • Use inclusive language and behaviour

  • Avoid discrimination or exclusion in any form

  • Report concerns to management promptly

 

Participants and Parents/Carers

We ask all participants, parents and carers to:

  • Support an inclusive and respectful environment

  • Treat others with kindness and consideration

  • Avoid behaviour or language that may cause offence or exclusion

  • Raise any concerns appropriately with The Cookery Cabin team

 

9. Reporting Concerns

Any concerns relating to discrimination, harassment, or exclusion should be reported to The Cookery Cabin management as soon as possible following our complaints policy.

All concerns will be:

  • Taken seriously

  • Handled sensitively

  • Investigated appropriately

  • Addressed in line with relevant procedures

 

10. Breaches of This Policy

Failure to comply with this Policy may result in:

  • A formal warning

  • Removal from classes or sessions

  • Termination of employment or contract

  • In serious cases, referral to external authorities

 

11. Monitoring and Review

This Policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure it remains up to date, effective, and aligned with best practice and relevant legislation.

 

12. Agreement

By working with or attending The Cookery Cabin, all individuals are expected to adhere to this Policy and support a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.
