Code of Conduct (Class Leaders)
1. Purpose
This Code of Conduct sets out the professional standards of behaviour expected from all class leaders delivering services on behalf of The Cookery Cabin. It supports safeguarding, promotes high-quality practice, and ensures a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all children, families, and class leaders.
2. Professional Conduct
Class leaders must:

Act in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner at all times

Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times in line with our safeguarding policy which can be found here

Avoid language or behaviour that may be perceived as offensive, dismissive or inappropriate in a family setting
3. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
The Cookery Cabin does not tolerate:

This includes behaviour related to:

Race or ethnicity

Religion or belief

Sex
-
Gender identity or gender reassignment

Class leaders must:

Treat all individuals fairly and equally

Use inclusive and respectful language at all times

Avoid making assumptions based on appearance, background or personal characteristics

Be mindful that comments made in informal conversation can still have impact

Be mindful that children and families may interpret language differently
Class leaders are expected to:

Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity at all times

Avoid stereotypes, assumptions, or generalisations about individuals or groups

Consider the impact of language when referring to places, communities, or people
4. Safeguarding and Environment
Class leaders must:

Create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

Ensure all children feel valued, included and are treated equally

Recognise that behaviour towards parents impacts the child experience

Report any safeguarding concerns immediately in line with The Cookery Cabin safeguarding procedures which can be found here
5. Communication Standards
Class leaders must;

Communicate respectfully with children, parents/carers and other class leaders
-
Maintain professional communication at all times, including in digital platforms and messaging apps used for work purposes

Avoid public criticism, confrontational or dismissive responses
-
Escalate concerns promptly to management and avoid engaging in disputes with parents/carers or service users
6. Online and Social Media Conduct

Class leaders must maintain professional boundaries at all times when using digital communication platforms
-
Personal social media contact with parents or children is not permitted
-
Any online communication relating to The Cookery Cabin must remain professional and appropriate
7. Complaints and Concerns
Class leaders must:

Report any complaints to the business owner immediately
-
Cooperate fully with any investigation
-
Not engage directly with complainants once a matter has been escalated

Maintain strict confidentiality at all times in relation to complaints, incidents, and investigations
-
Do not discuss complaints with other parents, children, or external parties
8. Breach of Code
Failure to meet these standards may result in:

Immediate suspension from sessions pending investigation, where appropriate
-
Termination of contract
-
Restriction of future work

All class leaders must confirm that they:
